    Who Conducts The Ielts Examination?

    The IELTS Test it is jointly owned by three reputable, international organisations: British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment. It is conducted in India by the British Council and the IDP. There are centres located all over India.

     
     

    What Is The Format Of The Exam?

    You can choose from two types of best IELTS test: Academic or General Training, depending on whether you want to study, work or migrate. Both modules are made up of four parts – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. IELTS results are graded on the unique IELTS 9-band scale.

     
     

    Academic Module

    Listening – 30 minutes plus 10 minutes to transfer answers to the answer sheet

    • 40 – 42 questions
    • 4 recorded monologues & conversations

    Reading – 60 minutes

    • 3 reading passages of around 2500 words
    • 40 – 42 questions
    • Texts range from the descriptive & factual to the discursive & analytical
    • May include non-verbal material such as graphs or diagrams

    Writing – 60 minutes

    • 2 Tasks to be completed
    • Task 1 is a summarization, explanation or description of a graph, table, chart or diagram of at least 150 words
    • Task 2 is a short essay topic of at least 250 words

    Speaking – 11-14 minutes

    • Part – 1 includes an introduction & interview (4-5 minutes)
    • Part – 2 includes speaking at length on a familiar topic (3-4 minutes)
    • Part – 3 includes a two-way discussion (4-5 minutes)

    General Module

    • Task 2 is a short essay topic of at least 250 words

    • Part – 2 includes speaking at length on a familiar topic (3-4 minutes)
